Love of Mankind vs Love of God and an Uber ride (Oct. 28, 2018)

Love of mankind responded in fear to what was different and misunderstood.

Love of God was present and inviting humanity into a relational freedom in Christ.

Mankind could not grasp the entirety of who and what Christ was about.

Mankind’s perspective was fogged by fear and chaos.

While surrounded by such brokenness Christ said I am here.

I AM, and I am here with you.

The love of mankind was broken.

Some were fear filled and wanted Christ gone no matter the cost, or possibly thought they were choosing the benefit of the greater good. Others knew the Truth.

As the cries of the fear filled crowd prevailed, Christ never stopped loving and being his true self.

There is no record of him degrading those who mistreated and killed him. On the contrary, he prayed.

As he continued to reflect the character and heart of God, his invitation into relational salvation continued.

Mankind’s love was based on what was man made.

God’s love was and continues to be based on what truly exists.

Independent in existance from the changing world, yet a love that penetrates into the world and eradicates fear. A love that says I AM, and because I am, so can you be.

A love that reaches into mankind’s most vulnerable of situations and circumstances to turn the world right side up.

God’s love didn’t say that Christ would be extracted from an excruciating death that he did not deserve. God’s love said, through the brokenness and fall of mankind, I will make it possible for all to be reconciled to me.

Oh my beloved, through Christ’s obedience, death will be conquered and Hope will arise for all eternity. Mankind continues to grow in understanding of such radical, sacred, relational, and exuberant love.

God’s love can’t be earned or changed.

It is as God is, and always will be.

Love of God remains as a relational invitation to freedom, truth, transformation, and peace. Just as Christ was not extracted from his painful experience, we may not be removed from a suppressing situation or circumstance. I could go on talking about the amazing and radically real love of God.

Simply, mankind’s love has no comparison to the love of God.

It is amazing the ‘reversals’ (rather setting things right) God opportunes. Through the transformational love of God our lives can become beacons of hope and eternal truth for mankind wherever we go.

Mankind’s love tries it’s best to put broken pieces together. The Love of God IS and takes broken pieces of mankind and invites, let me make you whole.

I would like to invite you into a short dialogue that occurred this afternoon in an Uber ride.  A ten to fifteen-minute ride was an open door for honest conversation. Riding with a gentleman I am not sure I would ever see again became an opportunity that the Lord used.

I simply asked: “What are you thankful for, what is going well for you in life?”

He responded: “Nothing… I don’t believe in a god…”

He began to open up voluntarily, “If there is a god then why is life unfair, why are some people overly rich, and how can people not care for the poor…? If there is a god why is life unfair…”

Me:  “May I ask you a question?”

Uber Driver: “Yes”

Me: “… Yes, it is true life is unfair… Yet, what if there is a God who: allows for mankind to choose to love him or not? What if people will answer for what they have or have not done with the resources they have? What if people are held accountable for how they do or do not respond to those in need?”

Uber Driver: “That is a question to think on, that will be some homework…”

Right before I left, acknowledging that he does not believe in God, I asked him if I could be praying about anything for him. He said yes.

Please be praying for this precious gentleman and have eyes to truly live in Hope with those around you. Like my new-found friend shared, life is not fair. That is true, yet God’s love vs the love of mankind has no comparison. May we so love!
