A time of gift giving and preparation. A time of the hustle and bustle… Is this what Christmas time is all about? What if we dream of another possibility?
A time of slowing down, being intentional about heart language, seeing others with the Love of the Lord. Advent, a time of preparing our heart for celebration. Yes, journeying through Scripture and the stories of old which touch our lives and hearts, but there is something to awaken deeper within us. I want to tell you of a brave group of people I have been honored to meet.
They are a people who say enough is enough. Their desire for freedom and strength in the Lord has brought them to such a place! In some cultures, Christmas is merely a children’s holiday. However, for these courageous few this Advent will be an invitation for them into the Christmas journey. It is not about one or two days of celebrating. Like Joseph and Mary, we are on a journey with Jesus. As Jesus’ birth changed things; the Lord can bring new life in and through us during Advent as well. May we be encouraged by these young adults ranging from ages 10 to 24 years old. As they are lighting the way, may we too be spurred on in our faith? As many think of gifts to give family and friends. Please stop, look around you, breathe in the simple things that so many take for granted. Listen to the Lord and journey in community with the Body of Christ.
What is the gift within yourself that you are preparing that you can give to the Lord this season? What life is the Lord awakening within you? We all have everything we need; God will meet us right where we are and with who we are. The amazing thing is that God doesn’t leave us the same when we commune. If you’d like, feel free to share how you are experiencing God as Advent begins. It’s not too late to start, don’t miss out on the deeper and breathe of life that Christmas can bring. Christ-mas more of Christ! ;)
If you would like to journey through a December Advent challenge or partnership for your family, or youth/children/young adult/ adult class or group feel free to let me know. No money is necessary. I can connect you with an international experience exchange that can encourage you and children/young adults and others from where I am journeying as well.
